About 100 broadcast students from eight schools around New England reported and created news packages from scratch at Emerson College on Friday, Dec. 5, as part of NESPA’s Fall Frenzy.
The students chose either a news or a feature prompt that they learned about that morning, then spent the day reporting and editing a news package with a 2:30 deadline, which each team successfully met.
Judges with industry experience will now evaluate the students’ work and give them feedback based on a common rubric. The packages can earn either Gold, Silver, or Bronze status depending on the judge’s evaluation.
Emerson College hosted the event, and gave students a tour of the journalism school’s broadcast facilities once the event was over.
