New Executive Director for NESPA

Tom Fabian, NESPA’s new executive director, has a distinguished background in secondary education and in journalism.

He advises The Newtonite at Newton North High School where he has been teaching since 2007.

Under his direction since 2013, The Newtonite has expanded its use of the internet so that it now publishes daily online as well as producing five print specials per year.

Fabian’s 30-year career as a secondary school teacher has put him in classrooms in Boston, Farmington, CT, Seoul, Korea, and Westborough, MA. Prior to teaching, he worked as an editor for Mariner Newspapers on the Massachusetts South Shore.

He holds bachelor’s degrees in English and journalism from Boston University, where he was an editor with The Daily Free Press. He also holds a master’s degree and an MFA from Emerson College.

He grew up in Cleveland, Ohio where he attended St. Joseph High School. He lives with his wife and three daughters in Watertown, MA.
